ATTRAVERSAMENTI / CROSSING MINDS

Trieste 24 January – 27 April 2025

Multi-location exhibition of artistic installations in 9 venues in the city of Trieste
Promoted by Centro Studi Arte Archeologia Ambiente
Curated by Sandro Gazzola
Co-organised with the Municipality of Trieste
In collaboration with Stelio Crise National Library, Diocese of Trieste, Waldensian Lutheran Community,
Trieste Jewish Community Museum “Carlo and Vera Wagner”, Islamic Cultural Association of Trieste.

Gianni Turin opens his art project in Trieste, being a border city and rich in cultures.
The project spread throughout the city intends to place the artist’s works in 9 symbolic places in different secular, historical and religious worlds, to create a common thread that leads the various locations to dialogue.
For the first time, the three great religions (Jewish, Christian, Islamic) are participating.
The artist, for many years professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in Pictorial Disciplines (now retired), has been working on an artistic project since 2012, consisting of a path of communion between the secular world and the religious world, including the socio-economic history of the past century and the present.

In the past, the project was hosted in Bologna in an initial embryonic form in 2012, in Bassano del Grappa in 2016, in Bologna in 2017, in Venice in 2019 and, after a pause caused by the extension of the pandemic, in 2025 in Trieste.
Gianni Turin’s works are presented as complex assemblages consisting of oil-painted canvases fused with elements of a physical and sculptural nature, such as the artist’s symbol, the ‘non-praying head’, or salvaged objects destined for new identities.
The works (mobile or site-specific works) dialogue with the exhibition venues and the preserved elements, with the aim of
of creating a concert of several voices that evoke what has been, to ensure that memory is useful to human emancipation based on the love of dialogue and not on violence.
